DC Trip Favorites + two extra

An angel looking over the Lincoln Memorial. We were amazed at the planes flying over. They were so close!

A small portion of Union Station. All of it is absolutely beautiful!

A Soldier in the Korean War Memorial

One of the many waterfalls in the FDR Memorial

The Korean War Memorial

A different view of the Lincoln Memorial

A portion of he Vietnam War Memorial

I loved this... The Old Post Office in the rain.

The Arlington Memorial Cemetery. Notice the grave markers in this portion aren't the uniformed crosses? They weren't always required... so these were the markers of the past.

The Washington Memorial... we saw it wherever we went in DC.

My favorite Memorial, the Thomas Jefferson Memorial. It was so beautiful, sitting on the water,
Georgetown Cupcakes... Home of the cupcake sisters, as I call them :)

We loved Georgetown.. it reminded me of England, the village we lived in. SO pretty, clean, and quaint.

More of Georgetown!

And more... I was trying to capture its charm :)

AND another :)

Yes, we went back several time in the 5 days we were there :)
One of the many tents in the Freedom Square Occupy Movement

Might need to build myself one of these ;)
I do love it! :)

I am not raising the Conservative... the wife is  :)

Ummm, no explanation

On our way to the White House

Silliness on the open top bus

Georgetown Cupcakes!!

Me on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial

These next two pictures are from this past busy, busy week! I thought they were good pics of the kids :)

The girl after receiving her letter Jacket... watching the Rangers lose....
Watching the Rangers lose, before the end of the game obviously :)

The Days Ahead

First of all, I do believe I'm losing it. I signed in today to write a short blog and saw I had comments to approve for my last post. Now I knew I had comments on my blog, but thought I had approved them the day I received them. So, I apologize now, and do plan on responding to them ASAP!

This will be yet another quick run-down blog because I've got to give a presentation tomorrow and still don't have it finished. I'm one of those who tends to function better when the deadline is near, I suppose.

Last week was a far cry from our norm... we took a family trip to DC and all I can say is, I loved it!! It's such a beautiful place, and so clean. The girl loved Georgetown, and though we aren't really sure what the boy loved, we think he had a good time. He's getting tested this Wednesday for Aspergers, anxiety disorders, etc. To be honest, I'm not really sure what to wish for with these tests. If they discover something, that will narrow things down for me, making it easier to help him through these already hormonally turbulent teen years. If they don't discover anything, then what do I do to instill excitement, and the drive needed to succeed in this crazy world. SO, you see my dilemma, right?

Anyway...
The trip to DC makes me want to shake these Occupy Wall Street people up a bit. I understand the reasons they're out there, but there are other ways to go about making a change and like I said before, this isn't the way to go about it. The girl and I headed down to the one in DC to take pictures, and talk to the people. What we saw were a bunch of people, without jobs, living in tents in the middle of two parks in DC. They hold signs up that say "Soul Power," and "Will Work for Peace."  One sign said "Ready for the Revolution." Seeing this after touring the Holocaust Museum, and the other places that trace the history of the US, the atrocities of what our ancestors escaped to be here, and the atrocities of what people who live here now escaped... all I can say is "Really?!?"

"Freedom is not free!" Do we need things to change? Yes we do... of course we do. In order to make things happen, you need to start with yourself. Be self-supporting... I cleaned apartments, and worked on budgets and other paperwork for elderly people when I got divorced. I put myself through school, with no child support, and depended on friends just like myself to get me through. Do I owe money for my college education... YES. Do I blame the Government for my mistakes and ignorance when it came to college loans? NO.

I think the most amazing thing about this movement is that they say it's the Middle Class, the working man's movement. I can tell you one thing... those cab drivers, the working men in DC didn't agree with it. They feel lucky, and they worked their a**es off to get where they are. They ALL pushed education, and talked about their own children and how they were raised "You don't feel like going to work today, you don't eat today..." I have a friend who's a single mother, working two jobs to make it. She's an amazing teacher, and she works at a grocery store at night. She takes her daughter to soccer, preschool, and fun kid places. She doesn't have the time nor the patience for the park-sitters. She's tired, and she's thankful for what she has, and for the support of family and friends. Or what about our housekeeper and the man who does our lawn? They don't have time for that, they don't agree with it, and they work harder than most, and they pay their taxes. What about illegal immigrants? They need to to be here! They're the ones who are building our cities, our homes, our highways. They work hard to support their families, not just wives and kids, but parents and grandparents too. Oh sure, a ton of jobs would open up if they weren't here, but I'm pretty sure the park-sitters wouldn't rush down to grab those jobs up! Of course not... that's hard work!! I feel confident in saying this because I know way too many people sitting in those parks, and they all have the same thought process. "What about me?" "I'm owed something for my life here!" YOU make your life what it is. They don't send their kids to school, because "The world is an education in itself..." Really??? I'm not talking about a home-school situation. I understand the reason why parents home-school. I'm talking about, NO education. The future scares me, and it has nothing to do with Wall Street. Wall Street IS our economy... and if we aren't raising educated, money conscious, socially conscious individuals, then we will only fail more than we already are.

The things we need to change right now: Education, healthcare, Outsourcing needs to stop, and we need to refocus our right-wing efforts along with our park-sitting efforts, and efforts to cleanse the country of our illegals (why not make it easier for them to become citizens?), into doing something about our debt crisis. The wife had a wonderful idea, though I'm not sure it would work if the money wasn't applied correctly. She feels we should have a nationwide lottery with all percentage proceeds, and the income tax on the winnings, going toward the National debt. Let's face it, a lot of us love to gamble in some way... we would all be doing something for our country then!

Okay... I'm getting the heck off of my soap box. I need to get my presentation done. I'll come back, respond to comments, and post DC pics later in the week. AFTER my Tuesday night presentation. :)

Bad Blogger!

Okay, I am a very bad blogger! I promise a blog from my business blog about the trials and tribulations I'm going through with my son, and I don't follow through. Not only do I not follow through, but you don't hear anything from me for what seems like forever.

SO... because I have limited time (surprised?) I'll give a short run-down and then try to respond to some emails.

Crazy few weeks.. Homecoming went well, son is odd-balling as far as his behavior so I am having him tested in two weeks for Aspergers Syndrome, and other anxiety disorders. We have had a behavioral therapist out for the dogs (NOT kidding), and we are taking a trip to Washington DC next week! I have been busy putting a presentation together for that big church in town... the presentation relates to our business, by the way. I've been trying to diet because we're going on a cruise in November and I am NOT going to cover myself up and I AM going to wear a bikini.

Oh, I've turned into a freakin' Conservative since the Occupy Wall Street movement has started spreading across the nation. I'm sorry, but we as a nation have created three disabilities that are far harder to get past than any physical or mental disability. They are: "I can't," "You owe me," and "It's not my fault." Who thinks a bunch of hippy-looking people who've created shanty towns in our cities' parks are going to make the Government sit up and say "Hey, you're so right?" How many of these people actually have jobs? Investments? I'm sorry, if your resourceful enough to set up camps with childcare, health care, computer center's, and more, then get up off your rear-ends and do something to change your life rather than depending on others who have worked their butts off. "The rich don't pay taxes" they say. Really... I can't tell you how much we pay in taxes every three months, but it's thousands upon thousands of dollars. What more do people who work their rear-ends off owe to these park squatters? PLUS, when I wasn't working, I did everything else I could to make money to live. I didn't complain about my situation, because I put myself there. The ONLY people who have any right to expect to be taken care of are children, the elderly, and the physically and mentally ill. Everyone else can suck it up, stop living beyond their means, and WORK.

 I.AM.TIRED.

I also have a new addiction that has me totally brain dead most of the time... Facebook Sims. It's not productive and takes up a good part of the wife's day. Then she complains about not using her brain all day. Go figure...

Here are some Sim pictures just so you'll know the craziness that has taken over the household.

I was going through the different interactions with the wife's Sim, and I clicked on "Woohoo." I thought my Sim was going to jump up and down and say "Woohoo!" BUT, this is what popped up... It gave me a great laugh!

Of course, I HAD to go buy a double bed. I wanted to know just exactly what would happen.

There they are... our little Sim people about to "Woohoo." The bed jumps up and down and you can hear "Woohooooo!" Cracked me up!!! You can't actually see them "doing" anything. It's quite innocent.

I have to go, but I can't wait to tell you how much the Sims game has taken over our life!

Okay... that's it for now. I have to get ready for a football game :) Ignore any typos... no time to edit!

Have a great weekend!!

I promised a picture blog of a typical day. Was that about two weeks ago? It certainly feels like longer than that. Maybe it was?

Anyway... as promised, I am going to post my picture blog here and then I am going to go to my business blog and post. After that I may copy and post that blog post into this one so you guys can see what I've currently been dealing with. I've gone back and forth on whether or not to post something personal on my business blog, but I figure it totally pertains to my business, and perhaps people will read and know why I'm so passionate about this!

A Day in the Life
Please note the picture quality isn't the best since I was running around clicking with my phone for a few days in order to get every aspect of each day ;)

Sitting outside with my coffee before I take the kids to school.... it was actually a cool, breezy morning!

Watching the fisherman who came along

He didn't stay long... they're so impatient! If only he had seen the fish jumping just a few minutes earlier!
What? They're still in bed?!?!

That's it. It's late, get up!
Well, He's ready to go!

Cam wants to know where the girl is!
It's a top-down day... the kids hate those days! Strange teens!

Here she comes... finally!!

Bye boy...

Hahaha, she would kill me for this picture! Bye girl!
Now to Starbucks... I have to go to the one in the grocery store because I usually need something from there. Yes, this is an every day thing!

The wife's daily Starbucks drink

My drink.... I don't usually have a drink from Starbucks because they make me sick. BUT the low fat very berry loaf is yummy!

Yes, the furry babies get their eggs in the morning

They aren't spoiled or anything
Ugh, I forgot to get fresh flowers from the store. Ignore the glass chicken. It was my compromise because the wife really wanted a large ceramic rooster.
Oh well, time for some cleaning

Start the laundry... yes, this is a daily chore.
The wife is still sleeping....
So, back outside I go with my coffee, after my cleaning and while I wait for the laundry. This is the neighbors' live in house-keeper. She's always outside about this time of morning, so I know to leave the yippy yaps in!
The wife woke up and off we went to run our errands! First to get her oil changed

Then to get her car washed

Then to Sonic for her Diet Coke

Then to Firewheel for some Bath and Body supplies!
My stuff from Bath and Body :)

Then here to get our uniform shirts embroidered with our business name. We were scheduled to run a booth at a local expo to promote our business we don't yet have a space for.

Then home in time for the dog groomer!
Cam all handsome and groomed!

My Tallulah trying to look poised after her grooming

Callie May sitting pretty
We had to go get the girl from school a bit earlier than usual  because she was having chest pains... to the ER we go.

The girl... no she's not miserable, she's trying to get her brother to have a conversation. This is the look most of us have after trying to talk to him.
The boy acting silly after they took the girl for x-rays

Dinner out after it took us so long at the hospital

The quick drive home because the wife was disgusted that the children didn't eat all of their food and frowned upon taking it home for left-evers.

Home for the evening, finally. Yes we are all in our space downstairs

Typical of the boy... this is his space

Callie is usually passed out

The boy decided to play with the other two furry babies

How I make the dogs and family behave ;)
I'm usually online looking through recipes for dinner. I thought I would try some crock-pot dinners this week
It's a top-down day... possible rain!!! Yay! The lake is 6 feet lower now :(
I remembered the flowers today!

I love my fresh flowers :)

Sushi for lunch! Love it, but I was surprised by how fattening it is... haven't had it since :(
The only non-crock-pot dinner of the week... Yummy salmon.. By the way, I now know I won't be doing the crock pot meals anymore. They were horrible. I'll stick with my cooking as is. Just as you see it above :)
Sunset through the window while I cook :)
I had to go outside to watch it... so beautiful!

Then we were blessed with a little rain...

This is pretty typical of the babies while we're outside without them!
SO, this is my picture blog. Kind of boring, but I suppose that's the point. We lead a fairly typical life and this makes me happy. I do get somewhat restless in that I miss my road trips, and I need quality time with the wife. Look, I know we spend the whole freakin' day together, but I'm talking memory making time. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't trade this for anything! Now it's time for me to go make the wife and I lunch, and then we'll watch some Sunday football. I don't like Pro-ball nearly as much as I do college football. Talk about slipping into a stereo-typical lesbian when my team plays! I put my Auburn shirt on, and yell at the television, or better yet, yell while at the game!!!! ;)

Warrrrrrrr Eagle, Hey!!!
My family... the wife loves the Cowboys, but we now also follow the Carolina Panthers... our boy Cam from Auburn is now playing for them!! :)
Happy Sunday everyone!!
